MISSION : Die Mission von Gay & Sober ist einfach: der nüchternen LGBTQ-Community eine sichere, unterhaltsame und bereichernde Erfahrung zu bieten. Unser Hauptzweck ist es, die Einheit zu fördern und die Nüchternheit zu stärken.
VISION : Im Geiste der Einheit kommen wir zusammen, um einander zu unterstützen und zu lieben und anderen - insbesondere Anfängern - zu zeigen, dass es tatsächlich möglich ist, glücklich, freudig und frei in Nüchternheit zu sein. Einmal im Jahr veranstalten wir in New York eine Sonderveranstaltung, um die Genesung von Alkoholismus und Drogenabhängigkeit zu feiern. An drei besonderen Tagen werden Hunderte von Stipendiaten zu einem Wochenende mit innovativen Gesundheits- und Wellness-Workshops, großen Redner-Meetings, spirituellem Wachstum und erstklassiger Unterhaltung zusammengebracht. Wir sponsern auch eine Pride Day-Feier für alle LGBTQ-Leute, die einen sicheren Raum für die Parade und einen Abendtanz auf dem Hudson River bietet - komplett mit Feuerwerk!
Unsere Konferenzteilnehmer repräsentieren mehrere 12-Stufen-Programme und kommen aus allen Teilen der Welt. Für diejenigen unter Ihnen, die mit den Erfahrungen des ehemaligen Hot N Dry oder eines YPAA-Events vertraut sind, werden Sie die Energie, die wir anbieten, lieben!

HERKUNFT : Was im Sommer 2009 als private Facebook-Gruppe namens Gay & Sober Men begann, hat sich Gay & Sober zu der derzeit größten Genesungsgruppe ihrer Art in den sozialen Medien entwickelt. Gay & Sober wurde erweitert, um nächtliche Online-Meetings, monatlich kostenlose LGBTQ-Community-Programme, eine Konferenz und eine offizielle Komponente bei National Pride-Feierlichkeiten anzubieten. Gay & Sober, die gemeinnützige Dachorganisation, die die Konferenz betreibt und überwacht, hält regelmäßig AA-Treffen ab und ist Teil des Stipendiums. Wir begrüßen und umarmen jedoch Mitglieder und Freunde aller Stipendien - einschließlich der Stipendien von Narcotics Anonymous, Crystal Meth Anonymous und AL-Anon. **

Im Juni 2011 führte eine gemeinnützige Firma mit dem Titel Queer & Sober am Pride Weekend in New York eine dreitägige Stipendienveranstaltung durch - einschließlich einer Kreuzfahrt am Pride Sunday. Unter der Leitung von Christian P., Keith B., David C. und Jackson S. war Queer & Sober von 2011 bis 2013 tätig. Im Juli 2013 schloss Queer & Sober, aber die Tradition von etwas Wunderbarem am Pride Weekend war in vollem Gang. Im Oktober 2014 gab die Männerveranstaltung Hot 'n Dry in Palm Springs bekannt, dass sie im September 2015 ihre Abschiedskonvention abhalten wird. Christian, ein Administrator der Facebook-Gruppe, sah eine einzigartige Gelegenheit, ein neues, neu interpretiertes Abenteuer zu starten. Im Juni 2015 stimmten die Mitglieder der Facebook-Gruppe von Gay & Sober Men fast einstimmig für ein persönliches Treffen auf der ersten Konferenz. Wo und wann war die nächste große Frage. Zielstädte wie Philadelphia, Washington DC und New York fielen mir sofort ein. Im Januar 2016 stimmte die Gruppe ab und kündigte an, dass sie die Konferenz in New York City abhalten und mit dem Pride Weekend zusammenfallen werde. Im März 2016 kündigte Jerry X. vom Big Apple Roundup auf Facebook an, dass der Big Apple Roundup nach 30 Jahren am Thanksgiving-Wochenende vom Thanksgiving-Wochenende zum Pride-Wochenende wechseln werde.
* Das große jährliche Treffen auf der Gay & Sober Men's Conference wird von der Association of Gays & Lesbians in Alcoholics Anonymous ( GaL-AA.org ) anerkannt. Gay & Sober Inc. ist eine steuerbefreite gemeinnützige Organisation des Staates New York (501c3). Alle Spenden und Beiträge sind steuerlich absetzbar. Im Geiste der Zusammenarbeit haben von Gay & Sober gesponserte AA-, AL-ANON- und CMA-Treffen AA, AL-ANON und CMA gespendet und unterstützt. Bei jedem großen nächtlichen Konferenztreffen wird eine separate Sammlung der 7. Tradition entnommen und direkt an AA oder CMA gesendet. Bei Gay & Sober Inc. gibt es keine bezahlten Stellen. Unsere Veranstaltungen werden für AAs und CMAs von AAs und CMAs erstellt. Wie viele lokale Alano-Clubs und LGBT-Gemeindezentren unterstützt unser Unternehmen eine Vielzahl von 12-Stufen-Programmen.
Gay & Sober Inc. ist nicht mit der Big Apple Roundup Inc. verbunden. Gay & Sober Inc. und Big Apple Roundup Inc. sind sowohl autonome als auch separate Geschäftseinheiten. Wie in der langen Form der 3. Tradition von AA beschrieben und wie Treffen bei anderen Roundups, erklärt und betrachtet sich das Haupttreffen der AA auf der GSM-Konferenz durch Gruppenbewusstsein als AA-Gruppe. Aus diesem Grund leistet das AA-Treffen auf der Gay & Sober-Konferenz jährlich besondere Beiträge zur Unterstützung der Arbeit von Anonymen Alkoholikern. Big Apple Roundup wird von AA als zweiwöchentliches Treffen in der 208 W 13th St am 1. Donnerstag und 3. Sonntag eines jeden Monats aufgeführt. Fragen zum Big Apple Roundup können an diese Treffen gerichtet werden. Das General Service Office der Anonymen Alkoholiker hat Gay & Sober darüber informiert, dass sie nicht befugt sind, jährliche Konferenzsitzungen, Gruppen oder Zusammenfassungen anzuerkennen . Eine Verzeichnisliste bedeutet nicht, dass eine Gruppe den Ansatz oder die Praxis des traditionellen AA-Programms genehmigt oder befürwortet .
In June of 2011, a nonprofit company titled Queer & Sober conducted a three day fellowship event on Pride Weekend in New York - including a cruise on Pride Sunday. Under the direction of Christian P., Keith B., David C., and Jackson S., Queer & Sober operated from 2011 through 2013. In July of 2013, Queer & Sober closed, but the tradition of something wonderful on Pride Weekend was in full swing. In October of 2014, the men's event Hot 'n Dry in Palm Springs announced that it would hold it's farewell convention in September of 2015. Christian being an admin of the of the Facebook group saw a unique opportunity to launch a new, reimagined adventure. In June of 2015, the members of Gay & Sober Men's Facebook group voted almost unanimously to meet face to face at it's very first conference. Where and when was the next big question. Destination cities like Philadelphia, Washington DC, and New York immediately came to mind. In January of 2016, the group voted and announced that it would hold the conference in New York City and it would coincide with Pride Weekend. In March of 2016, Jerry X. from the Big Apple Roundup announced on Facebook that after 30 years on Thanksgiving Weekend, the Big Apple Roundup would be moving from Thanksgiving weekend to Pride Weekend.
*The big annual meeting at the Gay & Sober Men's Conference is recognized by the Association of Gays & Lesbians in Alcoholics Anonymous (GaL-AA.org). Gay & Sober Inc. is a tax exempt 501c3 New York State nonprofit. All donations and contributions are tax deductible. In the spirit of cooperation, Gay & Sober sponsored AA, AL-ANON, and CMA meetings donate and support AA, AL-ANON, and CMA, respectively. A separate 7th Tradition collection is taken at each big nightly conference meeting and sent directly to AA or CMA. There are no paid positions at Gay & Sober Inc. The organization sponsors an annual fellowship conference based on our program of recovery and provides opportunities for fellowship throughout the year. We strive to adhere to the guidelines and principles set forth by the 12 Steps, 12 Traditions, as well as the guidelines for conferences, conventions, and roundups. Our events are created for AA's & CMA's, by AA's & CMA's. Like many local Alano clubs and LGBT Community Centers, our corporation supports a variety of 12 Step programs.
Gay & Sober Inc. is not associated with the Big Apple Roundup Inc. Gay & Sober Inc. and Big Apple Roundup Inc. are both autonomous and separate business entities. As described in the long form of AA’s 3rd Tradition, and like meetings at other Roundups, the main AA meeting at the GSM Conference by group conscious declares and considers itself an AA group. As such, the AA meeting at the Gay & Sober Conference makes Special Contributions annually to support the work of Alcoholics Anonymous. Questions concerning our financial support can be directed to the Alcoholics Anonymous Contributions Department at 212-870-3400. The same can be said for Crystal Meth Anonymous World Services.
Big Apple Roundup is listed by AA as holding bi-weekly meetings at 208 W 13th St on the 1st Thursday and 3rd Sunday of every month. Questions concerning the Big Apple Roundup can be addressed to these meetings. The General Service Office of Alcoholics Anonymous has informed Gay & Sober that they do not have the authority to recognize any annual conference meetings, groups or roundups. A directory listing does not imply approval or endorsement of any group’s approach to or practice of the traditional AA program. The last Big Apple Roundup event was in June of 2019.
